Dear voters, supporters, friends-
I am Wisconsin State Representative JoCasta Zamarripa and it has been my honor to represent the people of the 8th Assembly District this last year and a half.
During some of the most tumultuous time in the history of our great state, I had the great honor and tremendous responsibility of serving in the Wisconsin State Legislature. The 2011-12 Legislative session was largely defined by the budget repair bill, which is now referred to as Act 10, having since become law. I am proud to say that I debated the controversial budget repair bill on the floor of the Assembly, with my fellow Democrats, for over 60 hours. During those 60+ hours, I only got about five hours of sleep and although, we were not victorious, I am proud of the work that my Democratic colleagues and I did. We fought for what we believed in and what we continue to believe in - working and middle-class Wisconsin families. Despite the division in the state and the hyper-partisanship in the Legislature, I went on to be one of the only Freshman Democrats to pass a bill into law this session. SB (Senate Bill) 259 created the office of Milwaukee County Comptroller. This one was a fight within my own Democratic caucus, but I stood firm believing the bill would bring more accountability and transparency to my county. This past spring election, Milwaukee elected its first Comptroller, Scott Manske. These are just two brief highlights of my first term in office. I hope you will take the time to explore my website. I have more information around issues that are important to me and the communities I represent. I would be honored to have your support in my very first re-election campaign. Finally, I ask you to consider supporting me and my campaign by making an online donation or by volunteering. Sincerely, JoCasta Zamarripa State Representative 8th AD (Assembly District) |
